During the month of July, Dr Ignacio Silva, Research Fellow of the Philosophy Institute, travelled to the UK for an Academic Visitorship at the Faculty of Theology and Religion, where he was able to meet with old friends and colleagues. During this month, Dr Silva took part of three academic meetings:

1) Science and Belief in Society Annual Conference, University of Birmingham, 4-6 July 2019, where he contributed a paper titled “Nineteenth Century Positivist Roots of the Relations between Science and Religion in Latin American”;

2) Theodicy and Compassion, Ian Ramsey Centre, University of Oxford, 18-20 July 2019, where he spoke on “Providence as Compassion (or Mercy)”;

and 3) Bridging the Two Cultures of Science and the Humanities, Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, 4-31 July 2019, where he presented on “Science and Religion in the Latin American Context”.

Dr Silva was also invited to become an Associate Member of the School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion, de la University of Birmingham.
